Below are the answers to yesterday’s pop quiz.
Watch for more to come in the future. Once a month, I’ll include a quiz, centering it around a theme, such as Native American art, sporting events, outdoor recreation, and other things travel-related. You can join in on the fun by leaving your answers here in the comment box.

Till next time, let me know if you knew the answers to this quiz without having to do an online search, or phone a friend.

Greater Phoenix, the fifth largest city in the country, is home to the third largest working sundial in the Western Hemisphere and many other interesting facts, figures and fun.  In this first pop quiz at The Phoenix Traveler, let’s see how much you know or have heard about the city where you live or plan to visit:

Holistic and Life Changing

Holistic and Life Changing

That’s how a new service offered by The Boulders Resort & Golden Door Spa is being touted. Actually, the press release says it’s “holistic” and “nothing less than life changing.”
The resort’s new Carefree Spa Getaway Package offers daily hikes, cooking classes, spa treatments, and meditation time…Ummm. I get it. It’s going to lead to a few “Aha!” moments. I’m beginning to see where enlightenment might occur.

~Enjoying outdoor recreation.
~Swimming and other poolside fun.
~Boating and rowing and gondola rides.
~Shopping and dining.
~Watching beautiful sunsets.

I polled a few friends who run together year-round on Saturday mornings. They often train together for marathon races, and here’s where they suggest you might like to pound your feet:
The Arizona Canal
From the Salt River Pima Indian Reservation all the way to the Northwest Valley, this almost 40-mile stretch offers easy access and provides a …read more

Wet dreams

When the daytime temperatures in Phoenix hit 110 degrees and higher, we imagine ourselves in cool flowing waters, making big splashes, or relaxing on a floating device with a cool drink in hand. We dream of ways we can get wet. From dream to reality, here’s a short list that will satisfy anyone’s hot desert dreams:
Make Waves
For the budget-minded, the city of Tempe in the Phoenix Metro Area operates an indoor pool where kids and adults alike can rent tubes and rafts to ride the three-foot-tall waves to the sandy beach shore. The Kiwanis Wave Pool includes a 127-foot tall double spiral slide for even more water time thrills. …read more
