That’s sad to hear. It will be a huge adjustment for us Phoenicians. But it’s going to impact the Valley in a good way, I hope. Valley Metro has been getting the word out about safety for quite some time now. I’m sure they don’t want injuries. The rail cars were designed to lesson impact if someone should be hit by them as they are quiet, and large–so they know it’s more than possible if people aren’t careful.

I hope this will not be a regular occurance. Let’s pray that it won’t be.

I do want to check out the light rail and go for a ride. However, I think it was yesterday I heard on the news that there was already an accident involving a pedestrian. I guess Phoenicians aren’t quite used to looking both ways for the light rail. We’d better wise up though.

And by the way, I’ve been waiting for Light Rail to come to Phoenix since the late 1980s, when I edited a construction magazine here in Phoenix…and it got voted down the first time. I remember there was talk of a station at the intersection of 24th Street and Camelback, which would have been amazing. It could still happen…

It’s been a long time coming, and now that it’s arrived, I think it’s going to make our city so much more vibrant. I just can’t wait to ride. Who knew you could get so excited about a train?!

I’ve also have a website dedicated strictly to METRO light rail and the happenings around the Downtown and Midtown Phoenix area. It’s been so exciting watching the testing and I can’t wait for Dec. 27th!!

I didn’t even know Phoenix was launching a light rail — let alone that it was getting ready to open.
