How about a facelift to go with that vacation?
Not that you need it or anything, but top Phoenix-based plastic surgeon Dr. Stephen P. Beals has just announced a new collaboration with the Royal Palms Resort and Spa in Phoenix–he’s offering “cosmetic rejuvenation” services at the resort. They say it’s a new trend: mix in a little cosmetic surgery while on vacation.
When I read that press release, I must confess my immediate reaction–Not for me. To be fair, I’m not planning on getting cosmetic surgery. If I were, I certainly wouldn’t want it while on vacation, even if it did mean a complementary room upgrade, priority scheduling and spa discounts. I’m sure I’d be thankful for the in-room nursing services, definitely. But I have to wonder: How could I enjoy myself?
I think I’d want the rest and privacy this kind of vacation offers, should my face be all stitched up and bandaged or my belly swollen from the tummy tuck. And it’s nice they throw in luxury transportation to and from the doctor’s office. But I don’t get it. Where does the vacation part of this “trip” fit in?
If you’re not familiar with this resort and spa, Royal Palms is truly amazing and beautiful. Service is spectacular. I’ve eaten at its restaurant, T. Cook’s. De-lish. I’ve tasted chocolate with the pastry chef at the bar. Yummy. And its Mediterranean-style buildings back up to the iconic Camelback Mountain. Gorgeous. This place is not cheap.
So if I’m going there, I’m going to want to spend time at the spa, dine at its award-winning restaurant, and swim a few laps in the pool. In other words, I’m going to want to experience the resort, not just the room.
If this is a new trend, what’s your opinion about this? Would you want a little lipo to go with that luxury hotel? If you’ve tried it elsewhere, what was it like? I’m curious.
