What they’re saying about Phoenix, and other news

I scour the news online to find out what headlines mention Phoenix–and where. From time to time, I’ll post my findings here at The Phoenix Traveler so you can stay updated as well. Here’s the latest:

Allegiant adding direct flight to Phoenix
If you live in Bismarck, ND, you’ll be able to fly non-stop to Phoenix–the fourth most popular destination for Bismarck travelers–beginning in October, when Allegiant Air begins scheduling bi-weekly trips to Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport, NOT Sky Harbor International. For a limited time, introductory rates are $114, each way.

Travelgirl recommends: Fab food in Phoenix
I love it when writers find the hidden gems. Here’s a good find in Casa Grande. When you’re in Phoenix, heading down to Tucson, the restaurant mentioned in this article might be worth the pit stop. It’s a house-turned-museum with cactus garden-restaurant. Although the Web site doesn’t include any photos so you can see for yourself, it does include a bit of the area’s history and the BeDillons menu.

Phoenix Zoo home to new jaguar
Not that it’s the time to go to the zoo right now, I mean, it’s too hot to walk around outdoors in the afternoon this time of year. But, soon, the weather will be nice enough to do just that, and it’ll be fun to take the family to see this new addition. The jaguar looks beautiful in the photo.

Phoenix ranks 11th among nation’s top 100 tourism destinations
As with New York, Orlando and Las Vegas, Phoenix ranks right up there when it comes to making vacation travel plans. People want to come to Phoenix. Of course, we need the visitors; they contribute to a large part of the local economy. To find out what research this story is based on, click on the headline above.
