Ride the mechanical bull…or not
Remember the movie, “Urban Cowboy“? Here’s your chance to do your best imitation of Sissy (Debra Winger) or Bud (John Travolta) on a mechanical bull at the Saddle Ranch Chop House (4321 N. Scottsdale Rd.). It’s open daily, 8 a.m. – 2:30 a.m. The steakhouse, which got it’s start in Hollywood, opened this year near Old Town Scottsdale. It serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, lots of drinks, and late-night meals. Another location is opening across town in Glendale soon.

If I bet money on this guy in the video to win the bull riding contest (They host them every Monday night at 10 p.m.), what do you think would be my odds?
Next time you’re in town, give it a shot. And let me know how you do.

Jackie,
This brings back such great memories. I lived in the Houston area for nearly 30 years. My husband and son used to rope in the Saturday night rodeo at Gilley’s were they filmed the mechanical bull scenes in Urban Cowboy.

I want one!
cowboy that is…
this place looks like fun! Thanks Jackie!
It’s definitely a place where you might want to take your friends who come into town. I mean, it’s in Old Town. There’s so much to do there, anyway. Might as well mosey on over and ride a bull–even if he is fake. Probably best that way.

Thanks, Jackie,
But, Bull riding? No thanks – saw enough of the real ones while I was growing up, and going to rodeos was our home-town entertainment. Always admired those cowboys who stayed on for 8 seconds – and it seems like such a short ride! Nice idea to check out “Ol’ Town” Scottsdale.

That video reminds me of a time (back in the early 80’s I think) when I was on the phone with my boy friend. He put me on hold because another call came in. After waiting a looooong time, I hung up and tried to call back. No answer. I drove over there and he and all the roommates were gone. I went to the bar where we hung out all the time and there he was- riding that @#^*% bull!
Yikes, Stephanie, who knew bull could be so memorable!
If there are other places in town where you can ride a mechanical bull, let me know. I’m not aware of any. But I do know where you can do a little two-stepping. I’ll write about that some time soon.
